Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 — Shanghai Arrival
Your private guide will meet you in the airport arrivals hall. A comfortable non-smoking vehicle with an experienced driver will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, your guide can offer flexible suggestions for a relaxed first taste of Shanghai.
Day 2 — Shanghai | Zhujiajiao Water Town & Tianzifang
Zhujiajiao is a charming water town that offers a glimpse into traditional canal-town life. Ancient bridges, quiet waterways, and well-preserved architecture create a beautiful backdrop.
With your guide, visit the Chenghuang Temple, stroll through the Helong Gallery featuring traditional Chinese artwork, and relax in a local teahouse with fragrant tea and snacks. Then explore Kezhi Garden, a classical Chinese garden known for its peaceful atmosphere.
Return to the city and end the day in Tianzifang, a vibrant district filled with art studios, cafés, boutiques, and narrow lanes.
Day 3 — Shanghai to Zhangjiajie | The Bund, Yuyuan Garden & Shanghai Tower
Begin with a walk along The Bund, hearing stories of Shanghai’s colonial era while admiring its iconic waterfront architecture. Then visit Yuyuan Garden, a serene oasis of classical Chinese design in the heart of the city.
For a breathtaking view, head to the top of Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China, to enjoy panoramic skyline views.
In the evening, take a flight to Zhangjiajie. Your guide and driver will ensure smooth transfers and hotel check-in upon arrival.
Day 4 — Zhangjiajie | Be in the Avatar World (National Forest Park)
Today, explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Wander through surreal sandstone pillars rising from lush forests, and visit the viewpoints that inspired the Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar.
Your ticket includes the Bailong sightseeing elevator and Tianzi Mountain cable car, saving you time and energy. Ride the world’s tallest outdoor elevator to the mountaintop, and enjoy breathtaking scenery from the cable car as it glides above peaks and forests.
Day 5 — Zhangjiajie | Grand Canyon Glass Bridge & 72 Wonder Tower
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is famous for its mountains, streams, caves, cliffs, and forests. The world-famous glass bridge is the highlight — stretching about 430 meters long and around 300 meters above the canyon floor.
Walking on the transparent glass panels is thrilling and unforgettable. (If you’re nervous, your guide will help you choose the most comfortable pace.)
As dusk falls, visit the 72 Wonder Tower — an “ancient-style city that never sleeps,” glowing with neon lights and featuring a spectacular stilted building tied to local legends.
Day 6 — Zhangjiajie to Furong | Tianmen Mountain & a Town on a Waterfall
In the morning, visit Tianmen Mountain — the crown jewel of Zhangjiajie. Ride the world’s longest cable car, experience dramatic cliffside views, and enjoy the mountain’s iconic highlights.
After lunch, drive about 2 hours to Furong Town, a remarkable ancient town built beside a waterfall. The town is split by cascading water, with photogenic Tujia stilt houses on one side and the grand Yuwang Palace on the other.
Stay overnight in Furong to enjoy its magical illuminated night view.
Day 7 — Furong to Fenghuang | Photogenic Ancient Town & Night Cruise
Drive about 1.5 hours to Fenghuang Ancient Town, a riverside town surrounded by lush mountains and filled with well-preserved architecture and minority culture.
Your guide will take you to key attractions such as Hongqiao Art Building, Wanshou Palace, and Chongde Hall.
In the evening, experience Fenghuang’s lively nightlife. Enjoy a boat cruise on the Tuojiang River, as music fills the air and the illuminated stilt houses reflect on the water — a completely different side of the town.
Day 8 — Fenghuang to Changsha | Departure
Take a high-speed train (about 2 hours) from Fenghuang to Changsha, then board your international flight home.
